Technomousse: Italian experience for enduro and motocross
Technomousse was created in 2010 by Gnali Ettore, an Italian family business specializing in molding plastic materials. That industrial experience was brought to off-road motorcycling through the development of puncture-prevention systems for sporting use. The brand combines work on materials with testing by enduro and motocross riders, two disciplines that demand different responses from the tire and mousse combination.
Its motorcycle range focuses on Technomousse mousse inserts and the gel needed for fitting and maintenance. At Motarea, you can find front and rear references for different sizes and applications: from enduro and MX to minicross, alongside Sahara and XL versions. Your choice must match the wheel, tire and use specified for each reference; models should not be treated as interchangeable simply because they belong to the same brand.
Black Series and Red Series Soft mousse inserts
A mousse replaces the inner tube with a foam insert that fills the inside of the tire. Technomousse distinguishes its ranges by compound and application. The Black Series uses a standard compound with references for enduro, motocross, rally and minicross. The manufacturer states that it needs a brief initial running-in period to reach its working temperature.
The Red Series Soft uses a softer compound aimed at enduro and motocross, and at situations where greater tire conformity on low-grip terrain is desired. It is designed to deliver its response from the start of use. The equivalent pressure feel and service life also depend on the tire used: no single value applies to every combination. Before choosing, consult the manufacturer’s table and distinguish between front and rear fitment.
Mousse gel and care of the combination
Technomousse mousse gel is a silicone-based lubricant designed to make the insert easier to fit and reduce friction against the tire during use. This lubrication helps limit temperature buildup and wear. Motarea’s selection includes 500 g and 75 g formats to meet different fitting and maintenance needs.
Choosing and fitting a Technomousse insert
Check the full tire size, rim diameter, fitting position and the reference’s intended application. The manufacturer requires a rim lock and sufficient lubrication. If you do not have the necessary tools or experience, it recommends having a workshop install or replace the mousse.
Technomousse inserts are intended exclusively for off-road sporting and competition use and must not be used on public roads. Their service life depends on factors including speed, temperature, terrain and lubrication; riding on asphalt causes overheating and premature deterioration. For extended periods without use, the brand recommends keeping both wheels raised to prevent the motorcycle’s weight from deforming the insert.
