Motorcycle Center and Side Stands
The Center and Side Stands let you support and stabilize the motorcycle when it is stopped. A side stand is practical for everyday stops and takes up little space, while a center stand keeps the motorcycle higher and makes certain maintenance tasks easier, such as working around the wheels or checking the drivetrain, when the motorcycle’s design allows it.
To choose the right replacement, confirm that it matches your motorcycle’s make, model, and year exactly. Also check the mounting side on side stands, the frame mounting points, the base shape, and the available space around the exhaust, swingarm, and other components. For a center stand, also verify that the operating system and mounts match the motorcycle’s original configuration.
How to Choose the Right Stand
- Intended use: choose a side stand for quick parking, or a center stand when you need a more stable position for parking and inspection work.
- Compatibility: compare the mounts, bolts, bushings, springs, and included or required hardware with those of the existing installation.
- Support: make sure the base contacts the ground correctly and, once installed, does not interfere with moving parts or reduce ground clearance.
- Accessories: base extensions, hardware, and other accessories can address specific mounting or support needs, but they must match both the stand and the motorcycle.
Before riding, confirm that the stand is fully retracted, the spring maintains proper tension, and there is no play at the pivot points. If mounting information is missing or compatibility is uncertain, consult the motorcycle’s technical documentation or a qualified professional.
