Clutches and cables since 1948

Barnett has been developing clutch components and control cables since 1948. Its catalog covers road and off-road applications, from replacement parts for the original assembly to systems from the Scorpion family and Dirt Digger kits. The brand combines these solutions with different constructions and finishes for the cables that connect a motorcycle’s controls.

Plates, springs and clutch assemblies

At Motarea, you will find Barnett clutch plates, steel plates and springs, with Kevlar or carbon-fiber friction plates, steel drive plates and spring kits depending on the part number. The range includes friction plate sets, friction and steel plate sets, and kits that include springs. Check the contents: a plate kit does not necessarily include a complete clutch mechanism.

The Barnett clutch assemblies include Scorpion solutions and Lock-Up versions for specific applications. The baskets, hubs and pressure plates allow individual components of the assembly to be replaced. Your choice must match the installed system, cable or hydraulic actuation where applicable, and the application specified for each part number.

Clutch, throttle and idle cables

The Barnett clutch cable range offers different lengths and finishes, with High Efficiency versions for the corresponding applications. This construction uses a nylon-coated inner wire prelubricated with silicone. Exterior finishes include black vinyl, stainless steel braid and Stealth, depending on the model.

The Barnett throttle and idle cables have a different function and must be chosen to suit the control and intake system. On a setup with opening and return cables, check which one you need or whether the part number includes both. The exterior finish alone does not determine compatibility.

Before choosing a cable, check the housing length, exposed inner wire length, end fittings, elbows and connections. If you have changed the handlebars or cable routing, also check the length required for that setup. For clutches, confirm the part number and replacement contents before installation.
