VHM: cylinder heads and components for two-stroke engines

Cylinder heads and inserts: choosing the right combination

VHM cylinder heads use a machined body with an interchangeable combustion chamber. The head insert is a separate component: check the contents of the specific part number, as cylinder heads and inserts may be supplied separately. Your selection should account for the engine, displacement, applicable model years and intended configuration, as well as the components already fitted to the motorcycle.

VHM head inserts and combustion chambers come in different volume, piston height and squish configurations, as well as machinable blank versions. A similar external shape or matching displacement is not enough to select one: compare the part number and assembly specifications before installation.

Direct replacement models sit alongside special configurations that require other specific components. Check each part's diameter, crown shape, specified clearance and installation requirements; a special piston may need a particular head insert or a different connecting rod configuration.

VHM crankshafts and their components include assemblies with different inertias and connecting rod configurations, along with their own replacement parts. VHM connecting rod kits offer lightweight, reinforced or different-length versions depending on the application. Compare the complete assembly and included parts, without assuming that two part numbers are equivalent simply because they belong to the same engine family.

O-rings, CDI units and supporting components

The O-rings for VHM cylinder heads include kits and individual replacement rings for sealing the cylinder head. VHM CDI units include part numbers with two ignition maps; check the engine and tuning setup they are intended for, and which control or wiring is included in each kit. Not every configuration in the catalog can be combined with every other one.

The selection also includes engine measuring tools, VHM intake components and two-stroke exhaust valves and their spare parts. Tools for measuring piston height and volume help you work on assembly parameters; intake ducts, governors, springs and bases are selected for their specific function and application.
