Selection requires checking the electrical system, terminal layout, control connections and mounting. Do not confuse a relay with the starter motor itself or replace one solely on the basis of its external size. Even when a part number covers a broader range of applications, its electrical and mounting requirements must still be checked.

Arrowhead regulators belong to the charging system. They must match the alternator, wiring and installation specified for the part number, with the correct connectors, mountings and cooling conditions. Before attributing a charging problem to a single component, check the condition of the assembly and its connections. A similar external shape does not establish identical electrical operation or allow specifications from another regulator to be transferred.

The selection also includes Arrowhead ignition control components, such as CDI units for the corresponding applications. This system performs a different function from starting and charging: always identify the part that needs replacing and the original equipment part number.
