BMC: air filters, motorsport and intake care
BMC was founded in Italy in 1973, driven by founder Gaetano Bergami’s passion for motorcycling. Its early activities involved distributing products for motorcycles and cars. The collaboration with Ferrari in Formula 1, which began in 1995, preceded the launch of its own replacement air filter production in 1996. Its relationship with Yamaha MotoGP began in 2005. This background brings together the development of motorsport solutions and a filtration and intake catalogue for different motorcycle applications.
Choose BMC air filters for your application
At Motarea, you can explore BMC air filters, including Standard, Race and Carbon Racing references, along with conical designs. Oiled cotton filters are washable and reusable when maintained according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Start by choosing the correct reference for your motorcycle or the intake system on which it will be installed. Two filters from the same brand are not necessarily interchangeable.
Standard versions are replacement filters for specific applications. BMC recommends Race versions for sporting use on the track and notes that carburettor or fuel-injection management adjustments may be required. Before choosing a Race version, check its intended use and the information on the product page. For conical filters, also check the connection and the available installation space.
Filter cleaning and regeneration
Maintenance is part of using a reusable filter. The BMC cleaning and regeneration range includes detergents, regeneration oil in bottles or sprays, and kits combining both products. The process involves washing the filter element and reapplying the specified oil, following the instructions and the recommended quantity. Frequency depends on operating conditions: dust, sand and demanding routes may require more frequent inspections. This filter oil should not be confused with engine lubricant.
Carbon intake components and pre-filters
The catalogue also includes BMC carbon intake components, such as the intake trumpets in the Carbon Racing family. These components are intended for particular applications, so check the reference and installation requirements before choosing them.
BMC pre-filters complete the range with covers for compatible filters. Select the pre-filter that matches the filter element and vehicle specified on its product page. Explore each family to compare references, pack contents and availability, and use Motarea’s compatibility information when a product has a specific application.
