Brake pads, brake discs and clutches
SBS is a Danish manufacturer specializing in friction solutions for motorcycles, scooters and ATV/UTV vehicles. Its braking range covers road, racing and off-road applications and includes pads, brake discs, shoes and retaining pins. Clutch plates and clutch kits complete the catalogue. Each family is intended for a specific system and is selected according to the part number, fitting position and intended use.
Braking: compound, position and dimensions
SBS brake pads and shoes cover disc and drum brakes. In the road pad range, HF uses ceramic material, while HS and LS are sintered options with distinct front and rear applications. Racing families include DS-1, DS-2 and DC, each with its own materials and conditions of use. Not all ranges suit the same environment or have the same approval: always check the specific part number and its application.
SBS brake discs are organized into Standard, Upgrade and Specialized programmes, with fixed or floating designs depending on the part number. Selection requires checking the diameter, thickness, position and mounting pattern against the intended installation. A similar outline or the same external dimension is not enough to replace one disc with another; also check its match with the caliper, pads and components required by that system.
Clutches and maintenance components
SBS clutch plates and kits include Standard and Upgrade options, as well as part numbers for dry clutches. Contents and materials depend on the product: distinguish between friction plates, steel plates and single-disc assemblies. Check the number of parts and which components are retained or replaced. Instructions on preparation, pre-lubrication and installation must correspond to the specific kit.
SBS brake pad retaining pins complete caliper maintenance. When choosing them, check the application, length, thread and end shape specified for the part number. Do not interchange them based on visual similarity or assume that one pin fits every caliper from a brand. Drum brake shoes must also be selected by system and dimensions, without automatically attributing a brake pad compound to them.
Before installation, correctly identify the vehicle, component position and range specified by SBS. Check the condition of the parts that work together and follow the manufacturer’s specific installation and bedding-in instructions. Distinguishing between road, track and off-road helps you choose a solution suited to the application, without extending conditions described for a single product to other families.
