Vertex: pistons and engine components

Vertex develops pistons and components for internal engine maintenance. Its official catalogue distinguishes between pistons for two-stroke and four-stroke engines and offers piston rings and pins. These families cover both the replacement of a specific part and more extensive work, always according to the relevant part number and installation requirements.

Vertex's origins and the evolution of its range

Vertex began in 1953 as a workshop supplying spare parts for engines and agricultural pumps. In 1963, it established piston manufacturing lines and a technical department. Its development towards motorcycle and racing applications helps place a range that now includes rebuild components and parts for different engine areas.

Alongside pistons, gaskets and timing components, you can browse Vertex clutch components, carburettor repair kits and fuel pump repair kits. Cooling system components and small spare parts complete the range. Each family serves a different job; check the kit's contents and application before preparing the repair.

At Motarea, Vertex products are organised by function. The links bring together pistons, rings, rebuild kits, gaskets, oil seals, timing chains, valves and piston retention components. Before buying, identify the component you need and check the contents of each part number: an individual part and a repair assembly may cover different jobs.

Pistons, rings and assembly components

The pistons and piston kits include options for different engine configurations. Choosing the right one requires checking the confirmed diameter, piston type and application; a similar measurement does not guarantee a correct fit. Also check whether the product includes rings, a pin, circlips or other components, without assuming that every part number contains the same items.

The piston rings must match the grooves and the piston that receives them, as well as meet the stated dimensions. The piston pins and circlips serve a different function within the assembly. Check their dimensions, retention system and the manufacturer’s instructions before replacing them; diameter alone does not identify the part’s entire geometry.

Engine rebuilding and sealing

The engine rebuild kits group components for extensive work. Their contents depend on the selected kit: check the parts list, specifications and compatibility before planning the job. Not all kits include the same items or replace every internal engine component.

The engine gaskets are grouped under a single link, with complete sets, top-end solutions and other sealing areas. The oil seals are listed separately to help locate parts that work around shafts. In both cases, check the housing, dimensions and installation position, as well as identify the area being worked on.

Valves and timing chains

The valves and their components include intake and exhaust part numbers with different specifications. Check material, dimensions and application, and follow the manufacturer’s installation and adjustment requirements. Sharing a brand or commercial product family does not make two valves interchangeable.

The timing chains coordinate the corresponding internal engine drive. They must match the intended system, chain type and length specified for the application. Consult each product page and the maintenance procedure before dismantling or renewing the assembly.
