Motorcycle triple clamps for the front suspension
Triple clamps connect the fork tubes to the steering and keep the front assembly securely held and aligned. Depending on the setup, they may be upper, lower, or sold as complete sets. Your choice affects fork installation, handlebar position, and steering geometry, so the part must match the motorcycle and its intended use.
Before selecting a triple clamp, check the removed part and the motorcycle specifications. Verify the fork tube diameter, the size and layout of the mounting points, the steering stem, and compatibility with the handlebar, risers, and steering components. Also confirm the triple clamp offset, known as offset, because it changes the front wheel’s relative position and can affect steering response.
How to choose the right triple clamp
- Identify the motorcycle’s exact make, model, year, and version, especially when different forks or configurations are available.
- Compare the mounting dimensions: fork tube diameters, spacing between mounting points, steering stem, and handlebar mounting arrangement.
- Confirm whether you need the upper triple clamp, the lower triple clamp, or a complete set. Inspect the condition of the threads, bores, and clamping surfaces.
- After installation, follow the procedure and torque specifications provided by the motorcycle or part manufacturer.
