Cycling helmets for every type of ride
Cycling helmets are designed for urban commutes, road rides, and trips on trails or through the mountains. Your choice depends on your usual riding, your position on the bike, and the level of protection and ventilation you need while riding.
Before buying, make sure the helmet is designed for cycling and carefully check the size specified by the manufacturer. Measure your head circumference according to the instructions, adjust the retention system correctly, and make sure the helmet sits securely, centered, and without looseness. A fit that is too tight can also become uncomfortable on longer rides.
How to choose a cycling helmet
- Intended use: for city riding, comfort and ease of use are often priorities; for road riding, weight and ventilation; for mountain riding, the retention system and coverage provided by the design.
- Size and fit: check the sizing guide and make sure the straps are positioned correctly, without rubbing or restricting movement.
- Visibility: if you ride in low-light conditions, consider features that help other road users see you, without replacing required lighting when applicable.
- Care: regularly inspect the shell, interior, straps, and closures. Replace the helmet if it shows damage or after a significant impact.
