Frame Sliders

Motorcycle frame sliders and axle protectors

The motorcycle frame sliders help limit direct contact between certain motorcycle components and the ground during a tip-over or low-speed crash. Depending on the design, they may mount to the frame, wheel axle ends, or other mounting points specified by the manufacturer. They are not bearing protectors and do not replace crash bars, skid plates, or engine guards.

The mounting location determines both the part design and the required hardware. A front axle protector should not be confused with a rear axle protector, and neither is selected by wheel rim size. Check the axle, spacers, mounting points, and clearance around the complete wheel assembly. For frame sliders, it is also essential to use the structural mounting point specified for the motorcycle.

How to Choose Motorcycle Frame Sliders

• Application: Confirm the motorcycle's make, model, year, and exact version.
• Location: Distinguish between frame, front axle, rear axle, and other specific mounting points.
• Mounting: Check the specified bolts, spacers, threads, and torque settings.
• Clearance: Make sure the protectors do not interfere with the wheel, brakes, suspension, exhaust, or steering.
• Inspection: After a crash, inspect the part, mounting points, and contact area before continuing to use the motorcycle.

The installation should be secure and properly aligned without forcing the axle or replacing critical components with unspecified hardware. These protectors may reduce damage in certain situations, but they cannot prevent every consequence of a crash.
