The Traction & Implements section covers traction solutions designed to help recover, tow, or place off-road vehicles and equipment in a controlled manner. A winch can be useful on muddy terrain, slopes, uneven trails, or in situations where you need to get unstuck, provided it is used according to its instructions.

Before choosing, define the vehicle, available space, and type of work involved. Occasional recovery differs from frequent use on trails, agricultural tasks, or maintenance work. Also check how the winch will be installed, where the control will be located, and which anchoring components you will need.

How to choose the right winch

Intended use: Determine whether you need it for recovery, towing, or controlled positioning. Do not assume it can lift loads unless that function is expressly specified.
Vehicle and installation: Check the mounting points, bracket dimensions, working orientation, and available space on your quad, ATV, UTV, or 4x4.
Drive system: Check whether it requires manual operation or electrical power, along with the connections and conditions specified by the manufacturer.
Traction element: Check the type and length of the cable or strap, the attachment system, and the inspection recommendations to follow before each use.
Working load: Consider the vehicle and equipment weight, slope, terrain, and resistance to movement. The stated capacity must be sufficient for the specific situation without exceeding documented limits.
Safety and maintenance: Use suitable anchor points, check the equipment’s condition, and follow the instructions for installation, cleaning, storage, and care.

Comparing these factors will help you select a traction solution suited to your vehicle and working environment, rather than relying only on the equipment’s size or appearance.
